High River Protein Processing Plant
The Town of High River is located in Southwestern Alberta, Canada and has a population of 13,500 people. High River is conveniently situated in close proximity to the Rocky Mountains and the US border, and residents have plenty of activities to enjoy all year round.
Cargill’s High River facility is a fully integrated beef processing facility including slaughter, fabrication, rendering and hide operations. The plant employs approximately 2,200 employees and processes 4,700 head of cattle per day. Cargill is regulated by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and adheres to the highest integrity, investment into food safety and quality, animal health and safety, corporate social responsibility and employee safety. Cargill in High River has also been recognized as one of the pioneers for recruiting temporary foreign workers. Since 2007, the High River facility has been working closely with the Alberta Government to recruit over 1,000 foreign workers from both the Philippines and Mexico.
